Oktoberfest: A Toast to Tradition
Oktoberfest combines a beer festival with folk tradition. In Germany, the event draws millions of people to experience the culture through sampling traditional Bavarian dishes, breaking out traditional folk attire, and celebrating through games and ceremony. The festival has since spread to other countries.
The festival features beer brewed with Munich – so raise your glass, look the nearest person in the eye (it’s proper etiquette) and say Prost! And enjoy this Toast to Tradition – photos from my own time in Germany with my husband and our families and friends.
I especially enjoy the different versions of dirndl, lederhosen, and ways men, women and children expressed themselves through traditional attire. It feels like a step back in time, while also providing the chance to make memories in the current day.
